Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 July 2026. The short version: we collect almost nothing, we sell nothing, and the only personal information we ever hold is what you type into the contact form.

Who we are

What we collect

When you use the contact form

We receive the name, email address, optional subject and message you type. That is sent to our own inbox by email and is used only to reply to you. It is not added to a marketing list, it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone else. There is no newsletter on this site to sign you up to.

The form also records the moment the page loaded and your IP address, purely to block automated spam — a bot fills a form in milliseconds where a person takes seconds. The IP record is held in server memory only, for at most an hour, and is never written to a database.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and which links get clicked. It sets cookies and records the usual aggregate things: pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device type, and where you arrived from. We use it to decide what to write next.

We also record an event when someone clicks a “Check price” button, noting which retailer and which product. That is how we know whether a page is useful. It is not tied to a name or an email address.

You can opt out entirely with Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension. Nothing on this site breaks if you do — the buy links work fine without it.

Affiliate links

When you click a product link, you pass through an address on our own domain and are then forwarded to the retailer, usually Amazon. Once you arrive there, that retailer’s cookies and privacy policy apply, not ours. Amazon typically sets a cookie so it can credit us if you buy within 24 hours.

We never see your order, your payment details, your address, or what you actually bought. Amazon reports commission to us in aggregate only. See our affiliate disclosure for how the money works, and Amazon’s own privacy notice for theirs.

Product images and hosting

Product photographs are served from Amazon’s image servers, so your browser makes a request to Amazon to load them. This site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and diagnostics.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Ever, to anyone.
  • We have no advertising network on this site, so there are no ad-targeting trackers.
  • There is no account to create, no login, and no password to store.
  • We do not run a newsletter or any email marketing.
  • We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in Europe and the UK, and the CCPA and CPRA in California — you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale (we do not sell any).

In practice the only personal information we are likely to hold is a contact-form email. To have it deleted, email info@treadandtone.com and we will do it and confirm. No account, no form, no fee.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets its own, and the retailer you click through to sets theirs. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works either way.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Where the change is material rather than a wording tidy-up, we will say what changed.
